In April of 1996 the Andalusia Sports Complex opened following a sixteen month construction period.  The six hundred thousand dollar project was funded by grants from Amoco Fabrics and Fibers, the State of Alabama and the City of Andalusia.  The facility is managed by the City of Andalusia’s Department of Leisure Services and serves as the game fields for both youth soccer and adult softball.  Annual softball tournaments held at the park include the High School Girls Tournament each March, the Spring Fling Touchstone Energy Classic each April along with numerous other open tournaments held throughout the spring and summer.  Each fall brings hundreds of youth soccer players to the complex for league play followed by all-star tournaments.  Other limited special events to use the facility include the inaugural football season for Pleasant Home School and the 1996 & 2002 State Little League Tournaments.  The investment made during the mid 90's has certainly proven to have been a wise decision and will continue to provide a place for leisure activities for decades to come.
