Library Special Services
Practice Test (Free) Andalusia Public Library is offering free practice tests. Patrons can choose from more than 300 online tests based on official exams such as the ACT, SAT, GED, ASVAB, firefighter, police officer, paramedic, U.S. citizenship, and many more. Patrons may select to take a test and get immediate scoring. Test results are stored in personalized individual accounts, accessible only to patrons. Installation of three new computers. Software will be available to help with school work and other projects.
We Have It All
Books and books on tape mail program available for Covington county residents. A variety of large print western, mystery and romance books.
Charles Dixon Memorial Room
Spacious meeting room for civic organizations, clubs, and educational entities. Kitchen services for light meals, seats 100+. Stage and pull down multimedia screen.
Genealogy Department
Extensive collection of local and statewide historical resources. Local histories, census and newspapers on microfilm, indexed local paper 1800s forward, obituary index. Family Tree Maker genealogy program with over 80 CDs, wide variety of genealogy books.
Computer Services
10+ Internet stations, wireless internet available, state of the art learning lab providing computer classes to the community, word processor, children’s computer with educational software, Alabama virtual library.
Children’s Services
Storytime for preschoolers each Friday from 10:30 – 11:00, puppet shows, film festivals, learning lab, reading buddies, summer library program and outreach puppet shows.
Echoes and Visions Folk Life Project Indexed ethnographic collections of traditional life in Covington County. Photos, recordings and videos that capture traditional folkway of our area. This is an on-going project.
Outreach Programs Issues about aging books and videos available to interested organizations, outreach children’s services, Library of Congress blind and physically handicapped book on tape service directly to your home and library talks.
