Hazel Griffin is excited and energized to be serving her first term on the city council representing the people of District 3. She was raised in Covington County, graduated from Straughn High School and attended Panama City Business School. After a long stint in management for GEM in Denver Colorado, Hazel returned to Andalusia as a partner in Griff's TV (for 25 years with her late husband, Kervin). Hazel has been a member of the Retired Business Women, City Council Women, Business and Professional Women, a First Baptist Church youth and adult Sunday School teacher, Chaplin for RV ministries, active in WMU, Beautification for the City of Andalusia, and she has worked with many school plays.
Hazel enjoys missionary work (has been all over the U.S. and several other countries), loves spending time with her family and is a fan of football, basketball and card games with friends.
Hazel's goals:
- Be accessible to people so that they have a voice in government.
- See the River Falls Street project completed.
- Improve infrastructure and services for our citizens.
- Economic growth, creating jobs so revenue can flow from that growth and not from taxes on working people with good jobs that help people make a life, not just a living.
- Foster an educational environment that builds futures for everyone in our area.
- Slow down traffic in neighborhoods to protect our children.
- Keep our city clean and attractive to new business.
