The Andalusia Ballet presents "The Nutcracker."  Children of every age are sure to delight as the Stahlbaum family's glorious Christmas party gives way to their daughter Clara's dreams of a Nutcracker Prince battling a Rat King and her visit to the enchanting Kingdom of the Sweets. 
Performances are at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, 12 and 13, with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 in the Martha and Solon Dixon Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of LBW Community College. Tickets will be available online at andalusiaballet.com.

MLK Holiday

The City of Andalusia will be closed today in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This federal holiday  observed on the third Monday of January each year. King was the chief spokesperson for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement.

Monday's garbage will be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 20, along with Tuesday's route.

HBCU College and Career Fair

St. Mary's Episcopal Church will host its annual Mardi Gras 5K on Sat., Feb. 14, with an added twist - a gumbo cookoff, with categories for amateur and professional gumbo cooks. All proceeds benefit St. Mary's Rice and Beans outreach ministry.
